New Book – Embroidery Basics

My newest book, Embroidery Basics has been published by Stackpole Books and is now available. This is my 12th title – that makes a full dozen!

Yep, I’ve been around a while… I started my design career back in the 1980’s and was mostly into quilting, but like many of you, embroidery is my first love. You can read more about myhow-to history here.

Copies of Embroidery Basics are available through, directly from the publisher’s site, at many local needlework stores and through other major booksellers. Continue Reading “New Book – Embroidery Basics”

Welcome to Our goal is to create the ultimate resource for all things needleworthy, including free patterns, how-to’s and tutorials for a variety of basic techniques, tips for implementing new techniques, stitch and assembly diagrams, video tutorials and plenty of inspiration.

Our Knowledge Nuggets section includes tutorials and interesting embroidery-related tidbits. This section may even include a few things you’ve always wondered about… but were afraid to ask, while our Stitches section offers links to diagrams for working a wide variety of basic and specialty embroidery stitches.

Free patterns are posted in the blog area, with the majority of the patterns accompanied by a dowloadable PDF, making it easy for you to print and save the pattern for later use. Using a PDF pattern requires that you have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your system. Because many of our patterns are featured full-size in the PDFs, it’s very important that they are printed full-size. To help you print them properly, we’ve created the Printing Patterns page in the KnowledgeNuggets section.

We hope you enjoy the site, and look forward to sharing new items with you regularly. If you have a question or request, feel free to email us at
