The Basketweave Stitch is one of the basic Needlepoint Stitches and in a member of the Tent Stitch family. Each stitch is worked over one intersection of canvas to make a single, diagonal stitch.
This stitched is worked in diagonal rows (see diagram), and its name is derived from the characteristic woven appearance on the back (wrong) side of the canvas.
This stitch is very sturdy and covers the canvas well.
